In 2011, I provided planning support to Mattick Architectural Designer on a reserved matters application for an agricultural worker's dwelling in Bluntisham, within Hundonshire District — following outline permission that had been granted in January of that year.
With that functional need now robustly established, the reserved matters application focused on design.
The proposed dwelling drew on the architectural characteristics of the local area — the symmetrical built forms, panelled front doors, multi-pane sash windows and chimney stacks typical of Bluntisham's High Street. The site, adjacent to an established wooded area and set back from the public footpath, was well-screened in the wider landscape.
My evidence demonstrated how the proposed house would respond appropriately to its rural setting whilst meeting the functional requirements of the holding and respecting the amenity of neighbouring properties.
