In 2025, Tendring District Council approved planning permission for a front extension to an existing warehouse in Alresford, Essex, supporting the growth of a local storage and distribution business.
The site's residential surroundings made it a sensitive application. I managed the process through proactive engagement, targeted design revisions in response to officer feedback, and a clear policy-led planning case.
Warehouse Extension Approved in Tendring
I secured planning permission from Tendring District Council for the extension of an existing warehouse in Alresford, Essex.
The proposed front extension was modest in scale but needed careful handling because the site is located within a tight residential area, making it a more sensitive application than a purely commercial setting would have been.
From the outset, I recognised the importance of engaging with Tendring District Council before submission. Through a pre-application process, I established the Council's design expectations, understood the visual and operational concerns about the proposal, and agreed the type and scale of development that might be acceptable. This early engagement saved time and reduced the risk of an unexpected refusal.
The design was then developed to address the officer feedback directly.
Some neighbour concerns were raised during the application. These were overcome by providing additional information and negotiating adjustments where necessary to ensure the application remained on course for approval.
Tendring District Council approved the application, supporting the continued growth of a local business and its contribution to the local employment market.
